There are a number of ways that you can respond to the content on fluidphotos. You might want to comment on the site as a whole, ask a question about a particular image, respond to the contents of a shoebox or refer to other artists or websites. Let us know what you think

Donate a Shoebox

Shoeboxes are a simple way of gathering together a train of thought around a particular collection of images. Putting one together may be something that you already do in some form to organise your thoughts. Why not share your vision by donating a shoebox to our collection?

• What images or objects have inspired you in the past?
• Which images do you return to again and again for inspiration?
• Is there a particular technique or style that you find inspirational?
• Are there noticeable themes to the images you collect?

Perhaps you even have a real shoebox stocked with things that you return to time and time again for inspiration? By creating a digital alternative, you might see them differently...

If you already have images in digital form, putting together a shoebox will be easy. If not, perhaps it is time to take some of your browsabilia to the digital world and create your own portfolio? By submitting a shoebox, you allow other people to tell you about artists, exhibitions, websites or other sources of inspiration that might be relevant to you.

Don't let your pride hold you back from contributing, you can never tell what someone else is going to find inspiring.

How to donate a shoebox

Putting together a shoebox is as simple as gathering your thoughts into an email. This is what you will need:

• Images for the Images Section: The full-size images will be a maximum of 500 pixels in any dimension and should be less than 40KB. We are happy to resize and change the image resolution for you but you might want to do it yourself to check that you are happy with the results. Thumbnails will be created for your from your full-size originals. We recommend zipping the images up into a single file and attaching to the shoebox email. All images must be your own originals and by sending them you agree for them to be uploaded to the fluidphotos site.
• Text for the Images Section: Describe whatever is most relevant and exciting about the images for you - what do you find interesting about the images you are submitting? You might also want to talk about how the images were created or what inspired you to create them.
• The Artists Section: Which artists inspired your creations? Are there other artists whose work shares some similarity with your images or who have something in common?
• The Books Section: Do you have books you may have used as inspiration? Perhaps there are some that you would recommend to anyone who enjoyed your images or who is interested in the artists you have mentioned above.
• The Real Places Section: A chance to let people know if there is an exhibition, museum or place that is relevant to the images. You might simply document where the images were taken, or there may be a temporary or permanent exbition of your or other artists works.
• The Virtual Places Section: To give your audience the chance to continue their journey using the internet. Each entry for this section should start with the address (URL) for the site.
